  • 1 1/2 cups very hot water (for baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix flour, baking powder, salt, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and cloves.
  3. In a smaller bowl, combine pumpkin puree, milk, melted butter (or oil), and vanilla until smooth.
  4. Combine wet ingredients into dry ingredients until just mixed; pour into an 8-inch casserole dish.
  5. In another bowl, mix together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and chopped pecans; sprinkle evenly over batter.
  6. Carefully pour hot water over the entire dish without stirring.
