  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (cut into about 8 pieces)
  • 4 ounces dark chocolate (finely chopped)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs (whisked)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup pumpkin puree
  • 1 cup evaporated milk
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1/8 teaspoon ginger powder
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F (170°C). Line an 8×8 inch baking pan with aluminum foil and lightly grease it.
  2. Melt butter and dark chocolate in a saucepan over low heat; stir in sugar until combined.
  3. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Sift and fold in flour, cocoa powder, and salt.
  4. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared pan.
  5. In a bowl, mix pumpkin puree, evaporated milk, egg, vanilla extract, brown sugar, spices, and cornstarch until smooth.
  6. Pour pumpkin mixture over brownie layer; dollop remaining brownie batter on top and swirl gently.
  7. Bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted comes out mostly clean. Allow cooling before slicing.
