  • 1 ¼ teaspoons active dry yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 3 tablespoons canola oil
  • 3 cups flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (for topping)
  • ½ teaspoon garlic salt (for topping)
  • 1 tablespoon grated parmesan cheese (for topping)
  • Marinara sauce for serving

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or stand mixer, dissolve the yeast and sugar in warm water. Let sit until foamy.
  2. Add salt, oil, and two cups of flour to the yeast mixture; mix well. Gradually incorporate remaining flour until you form a soft dough.
  3. Knead until smooth, then place in a greased bowl and cover. Let rise for one hour.
  4. Punch down the dough, divide into 16 pieces, roll each into a rope, and shape into bones.
  5. Place on a greased baking sheet and let rise again for about 45 minutes.
  6. Preheat oven to 425°F during the last rising phase.
  7. Bake for 12-14 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Brush with melted butter and sprinkle garlic salt and parmesan cheese before serving with marinara sauce.
